Blackmud Creek Bridge – Embankment Stability, Landslide and Erosion Repair
Our Blackmud Creek Bridge (Blackburn Drive / Blackmud Creek Bridge) has been scheduled for repair by the City of Edmonton.
It is jointly funded through the River Valley Trail and Park Renewal Composite Program at a cost of approx. $12.7 million.
The bridge repair falls under regular preventative maintenance and is described as a geotechnical stability repair to address issues of slope, instability and erosion. To date, some wells have been drilled to monitor the stability of the embankment and new piles will be installed.
The successful contractor is Kichton Contracting Ltd. The construction start date is late spring / early summer and will last approx. one month. Construction will affect the fence, sidewalk, gutter, etc. on the south side of the bridge. However, once construction is complete, the fence, sidewalk and gutter, etc. will be re-built and landscaped.
Regular road access will be maintained, however, any disruption to traffic will be managed by a flag person.
